Filling Online Surveys for Cash

Do you have kids and other family responsiblities?

Maybe you want to work but being a stay-at-home mom means that it may not be possible to devote the time and energy for a regular job because of family responsibilities.

This is just what can be remedied if you start filling online surveys for cash. Not only are you your own boss, as in you can take surveys as per your own convenience you don’t need to leave home, all you need is to have access to a computer with an internet connection and all the surveys will reach your inbox.

So that computes to an easy $50-70 for your time if you just sit down for say an hour’s time. Sounding good? Well, it is, in fact paid online surveys are the best way to make an honest income on the internet. If you are willing to take more surveys, just start to pile up the dollars. I would say it is a decent enough income even if it is not going to fill in for a regular job online surveys will give you cash that is very close to a real job.

Also there is no hard work and toil for this money, all that is required is your honest opinion and some time to fill in the survey and once that is done, the survey company automatically makes the pay out. In fact many survey companies have lucrative schemes and even invite their members for a monthly sweepstakes where you are eligible for a month’s pay if you win them.

The pay is better if you are ready to participate in focus groups. The survey firms invite you to take a survey by taking part in discussion groups where you may give your opinion and also talk to others. You are not going to be treated so bad, most internet paid survey companies will gladly offer refreshments and breaks and you can take some time out to socialize with other people with interesting views. Very seriously, this is one job that is tailor-made for stay at home moms, and dads, college students, retirees, and you name it. I have seen them taking part in online cash surveys.

The basic approach is rather simple, just in case you are wondering, “How do I take part in paid online surveys?” Well, all you need to do is run an online search for paid online surveys and you will get thousands of results generated, all you do is start to apply at all the marketing survey companies and in no time, there you have it, you will be filling out surveys for real cash.

However, I would like to warn you about many fraudulent companies out there, use your discretion when you apply and never give out your personal details. This is the best part about taking surveys; you will never need to actually invest anything in order to earn your money. It is a win-win situation all the way.

Some Fact About Paid Online Surveys

Paid online surveys- facts and myths

Survey companies are just growing like wild fire these days and you will find some genuine and others not worth a new penny. So it is increasingly hard to sift the genuine from the fakes. So I shall just try to discuss the ins and outs in an attempt to sort out the facts from the myths with simple questions and supply you with the truthful answer for the same.

Are these paid surveys for real? And why would anyone pay me to simply give my opinion?

Truth: Yes they are real. Well, for the most part, there are so many online survey companies out there and some require you to have a paid membership and you must watch out for these because some may take your money and just disappear on you.
However, the good news is that many of these companies are very much legitimate and are basically trying to get an honest consumer opinion for the companies who would like to get a feel of the market for their products and are willing to pay you for you efforts.

Will I be cheated or spammed?

Truth: Like ALL business dealings online, you must keep your guard up. Survey sites will not demand your personal details like your SS number, they ask for your preferences only to determine your personality for taking certain surveys. They will also refrain from endorsing any product or scheme. So if you are using your email to send special offers then the company is definitely a sham.

If you are getting fantastic prizes and offers for just signing up then I would be a bit hesitant to sign up with such people. Read the terms of the site as well as the privacy policy, a legitimate site will not sell your address or send you unsolicited mail.

Should I pay for a database of survey sites, a survey guide or a survey membership?

Truth: My answer would be a flat YES. You will be able to find these sites yourself using a search engine but - do you have the time? Do you even know where to start looking or what to search for. For the few dollars it costs to get all the info and list of databases that you require. In our opinion you will save a lot of time and effort by investing in one of the top survey database programs.

Click here to sample a Survey Database

Will I become a millionaire taking these surveys?

Truth: Sorry, but that is highly unlikely. You can treat this as a fun way of earning some extra cash but definitely you won’t be getting pot loads of money. The maximum you can earn from taking surveys is a couple of hundred dollars. You need to sign up with multiple sites to get more surveys but the kind of money you will get is hard to peg.

You can make some good money but you are not going to get rich filling out online surveys.

Hopefully you have learnt a bit about paid online surveys. They are an excellent way to make some extra cash on the side, give your opinions about new and existing products and get paid for giving out a few minutes of your online time.

Making Money with Mystery Shopping Sites

Getting Paid for Mystery Shopping

Paid to Shop” or “Mystery Shopping”, as it is sometimes called, is another way to get paid for your opinion online. Like focus groups it requires that you physically go somewhere. After your shopping experience, you return to your computer and present your opinion of your experience online. Some of the better paid survey databases also list Paid to Shop companies as a bonus because it is a natural tie-in with online paid surveys.

Some shopping sites have started paying for your opinion regarding your online shopping experiences. That allows you to stay at home and makes it very much like online surveys.
Mystery shops come in all forms and for all types of businesses - restaurants, hotels, banks, gas stations, ice cream shops, pizza places, tire shops, doctors offices, etc. Their popularity has grown rapidly as many businesses have realized how effective mystery shopping is in evaluating the services and products their companies provide.

The more popular shops are with “paid to eat” and “paid to shop” situations. Restaurants will pay for your lunch or dinner in exchange for an evaluation of the server, the food, cleanliness, the hostess, the restrooms, etc. Walmart could request a secret shopper to evaluate a specific cashier, customer service, cleanliness, or layaway in exchange for pay and reimbursement for the item you purchased during the ’shop’ (up to a specified limit).

The pay range fluctuates with the type of assignment. You may receive an agreement for $8 in pay plus reimbursement of an item. Or you might receive a $20-$50 meal, cost of a tire, free gas, or hourly pay. Each site has a different pay schedule. Most pay within 2-4 weeks. Some have specific pay dates, such as the 10th for example.

A few of the mystery shopping sites may request a fee for joining. Those sites will usually provide training or certification, however most sites do not require a fee. You should receive plenty of assignments without training.

Locate the Paid to Shop section of your paid survey database and select a mystery shop to join. The application will be a little more involved than those for online surveys. Some of the questions may require a more extensive response, such as describing your last visit to a restaurant. They will evaluate your attention to detail, grammar, and ability to follow directions. If you are asked to respond in 300 words, do NOT go over that limit, no matter how great you think your answer is. They are checking to see if you can follow directions.

After submitting your application to a mystery shopping site, it may take several days to a couple of weeks for them to get back with you, since each application is reviewed manually. Each site has their own standards and qualifications, so you may not be selected by every site you apply to. That is okay, because there are many mystery shopping sites.

Even though a site may be located in one state, they may still provide assignments in many, if not all the states, and numerous other countries. You do need to have some type of transportation. If you live in a city, then the bus or on foot is fine. If you can find a site that pays for online shopping, that is even better.

Once you are accepted by a shopping site, you can receive assignments in a variety of ways. They may notify you of an available assignment by phone. Many also have their listings online so you can log on and choose those you wish to work. Sometimes you will be emailed by a coordinator for your general area with a listing of shops available. You are never obligated to accept an assignment.

As part of the assignment, you will receive the expectations, the questions you need to ask (usually there is a main focus), and a particular person, if any, to request. You are given a “due date” which is usually a week, but sometimes they call with a rush to see if you can do it or not. After your visit you submit your paperwork online.

When you receive an assignment it is very important to follow through and meet your deadline. You do not want to make a bad name for yourself. If you do, you go on a list that other mystery shopping sites review.

The great part is that if you have a good record of doing mystery shopping, you are able to advance. You may receive requests for 5-star hotels, resorts, cruise lines, etc. Yes! These have mystery shoppers as well!! Talk about a vacation!

Does mystery shopping sound like something you would be interested in? Here’s a more detailed description of a specific mystery shop for an apartment.

“I began working with mystery shopping sites through SurveyScout.com. They have over 180 sites on their bonus page just for this. Signing up for the shopping sites was pretty easy. I reviewed the sites, what they covered, what they were looking for, their FAQ sections, locations, terms, types of payments, etc. If it was something I was looking for and willing to work with, then I went on to their application page.

I received a call from one of the companies I signed up with to see whether I would take a listing to visit a local apartment complex. I accepted the assignment and they asked what date I thought I could have it done by. I asked for a week.

An email was sent to me with everything I needed to do, the purpose of the visit, the person to request, and the specific questions. In this case I was to evaluate a specific person, her knowledge, and how she presented their “no discrimination” policy.

They also wanted to see whether she made attempts to ‘close’ on signing a lease. If she were to ask, I was to just let her know that there were other apartments I wanted to look at as well.

I called and made an appointment to see an apartment. I asked numerous questions - about the security of the place, the other types of apartments, could we paint, etc. Then I asked what types of neighbors I would have. She answered, just as she was supposed to, and let me know that they had a “no discrimination” policy. She also tried to close on a lease.

The final step was to complete the paper work and submit it online. The questions were already formatted for me. Once you do the paperwork once or twice you get the process down and can do it quickly. It is very important to be accurate, use complete sentences, accurate punctuation, etc.

The first time or two takes longer as you try to make sure you have everything done correctly. With practice and experience it becomes much easier.

You can receive $20 for every apartment you view and appear interested in or $50 for model homes. If you live near a larger city and can plan several for an afternoon, it adds up nicely. Each visit takes 15-20 minutes (a bit longer if you are a talker). This site in particular indicated payment would be in 2 weeks and I received a check in less than 10 days.”
- Rhonda D.

Well now you know it has worked for someone else you may want to try it yourself.

Make Money with Focus Groups

Monday, May 14th, 2007

Get Paid to Join Focus Groups

“Focus Group” is a group of individuals selected and assembled by researchers to discuss and comment on, from personal experience, the topic that is the subject of the research. Just like surveys, you will share your opinions; however in a focus group you will also be able to discuss them with others. Some focus groups are held online or via telephone, although most require your presence at a specific location.

Some market research sites also offer focus groups. As you are registering with the internet paid survey sites, you may be given the option of applying for a focus group.

The registration process and eligibility requirements will vary with each company. Instead of the quick 5 to 20 min completion time for online surveys, focus groups can last several hours.

They are designed to gather more detailed opinions and attitudes toward the subject or product. The good news for you is that they pay very well! Payment for a typical two hour, in-person focus group can range from $50 to $250, with the average around $100. That is the equivalent of $25 to $125 an hour for two hours of easy work, and it is fun!

Why aren’t focus groups as popular as online paid surveys then?

First, you will probably not be able to find as many to participate in as you will online surveys, because you have to live near a particular location where the study is being conducted. If you live in a major U.S. city your odds are pretty good of finding one or more companies that offer focus groups in your area. If you can locate a few that offer phone or chat room participation that is even better. Secondly there is a group of people involved, so you will have to attend at a specific scheduled time.

If you are still not sure exactly how a focus group works or whether you’d like to try one, maybe this will help. The following is a first-hand account from a recent participant about his experience with a focus group.

“I signed up with a market research company through SurveyScout.com. SurveyScout conveniently indicated that this site offered focus groups by placing an “FG” code next to the company name in their database.

One evening I was called by the research company and invited to participate. I spent about ten minutes on the phone with them answering questions to determine whether I fit the profile of people they were looking for.

The topic for this focus group was home electronics that helped the elderly. I qualified to participate because my mother is in her 80’s, she lives alone, and I help her make purchasing decisions. The location of the focus group was about 25 minutes away. They had several times I could choose from and so we set an appointment.

A few days later I showed up at the scheduled time. They served snacks, and I met about 10 others that would be in the group. For the next two hours a facilitator led the group through discussions regarding our opinions and what we thought our parents would think of different aspects of the product. We discussed the packaging, the price, the image of the product, ease of use, etc.

It was very interesting and enjoyable. The whole discussion was taped so that our opinions and input could be reviewed later. We also filled out a couple of questionnaires. On my way out the door they handed me a check for $60.”
- Gregory B.

This is just one example of a customer who has made money online from activities other than filling out online surveys.

Daily Operation of Online Surveys for Cash

Handling Survey Email

Registering with the paid survey companies will generate a lot of email. This is to be expected. It is through these emails that you will have opportunities to make money, so view the email flow as a positive not a negative. You do need to develop a strategy for handling the email quickly and effectively so you are not overwhelmed by it. Sifting through email is part of the survey process.

Consistently using only the email address you have dedicated to surveys will help keep you organized. As you register with some sites, they may have checkboxes, which are initially checked, that indicate that you agree to receive additional information about other offers, or that you agree to share your profile information with other sites. Un-checking those boxes can reduce the amount of “junk” mail you receive.

Check your email on a daily basis, preferably several times a day. You are not required to respond to, or participate in every offer that arrives in your inbox. If the email contains an invitation to a survey, it should state how the survey will be rewarded - cash, points, certificates, etc. You will not be required to purchase or sign up for anything in order to take the survey. If they ask you to make a purchase that you ae not interested in, you can safely delete that one.

Especially in the early stages, you may want to participate in online paid surveys even though the reward doesn’t appear to be that lucrative. It will show the companies you are available and may lead to more profitable surveys down the road.

You will receive email offers to purchase services or products. These are not considered surveys. You can respond to them if you are interested, otherwise just delete them. It is important to read the “fine print” and record contact information for any offers you sign up for.

Paid Survey Email Help

You can use the features of your email software or provider to help organize your email. Most email services or software provide a way to automatically direct email to particular folders. This is done by something called a “rule” or maybe a “filter”. It sounds complicated, but is actually pretty easy. Usually there is a form where you can specify a rule such as “If the from address contains ‘GoZing’ transfer this message to my Survey folder.”

Once you determine the companies that are sending you the best offers, you can begin to direct your emails to appropriate folders by using the rules or filters. That way you can give particular attention to the emails in that folder. You can also block addresses you don’t want to receive mail from. If, after a sufficient length of time, you feel a particular survey site is not sending anything you are qualified for or interested in, you can log in to their site and unsubscribe.

How Do Internet Paid Surveys Pay Me?

Tuesday, May 8th, 2007

How Do I Get Paid through Online Paid Surveys?

When you receive a survey invitation via email it should specify what type of reward is provided upon completion of the survey.

Some surveys are rewarded with points - which can later be converted to cash or gifts, some may place you in a drawing for cash or a prize. If the survey pays “cash” it will most often be via a PayPal account or check. Upon completion of the survey, if further information is required from you for payment, such as address, PayPal account info, etc. you will be prompted to enter it at that time. For a PayPal payment, you just need to give them the email address you have connected to your PayPal account.

Some of the better paid survey databases sites will list how specific market research companies typically pay. While that seems like a good feature, and has it’s use, you may be better off ignoring it at first. The market research sites you are registering with conduct surveys or focus groups for a wide variety of clients. Those clients often determine the payment amount or type of reward for a given survey, so it’s impossible to say that “site xyz” always pays cash. The best approach is to register with every site you are eligible for and then evaluate the survey offers as you receive them.

The frequency and time frame for payments will be determined by the company offering the survey and should be specified in the survey invitation or upon completion. You will have to check with each survey company’s site to view your account status regarding points, etc. Each of the companies handles their payments independently.

The paid survey database you joined will not have a record of what sites you’ve registered with or what surveys you have completed. You are functioning as an independent contractor, so that is your responsibility. You can expand the chart you used for registering with the sites to include information about paying surveys you have completed. Keep a record of which site offered the survey, the date taken, the reward/payment earned, as well as contact information in the event that future inquiry is necessary. How much detail you want to track is up to you.

Income Expectations

If you think you can register with 15 or 20 sites and then sit back and wait for the $20 surveys to roll in, you haven’t fully understood the concept yet.

The amount of money you make will depend upon specific factors in your profile, your geographic location, the number of companies you register with, your work ethic, the current needs of the survey companies and other variables. You are not going to become rich overnight, but you can make some extra cash if you are consistent and patient. It works best as a supplemental income, particularly when you are getting started. Some people have developed enough momentum to establish a full time income over time.

Registering with as many sites as you are eligible for is essential. Time is another crucial factor. Some of the sites may only offer surveys once a month, so depending on where your registration hits in their cycle, it can take a month or more before you will begin to see offers from some of the sites. But, if you register with 100 or 200 or 300 sites, the gaps between surveys will start to fill in.

Online Surveys and Survey Invitations

Okay, I’ve got my online paid surveys registration thing down. What happens next?

As you continue with your registrations, start checking your survey email account several times a day. You will begin receiving email from the sites you have registered with. If you do not start to see email arriving in that account within a few days, you may have a problem with a spam blocker.

Be sure all filters or spam blockers are turned off for that account. Spam blockers are useful for personal accounts, but you do not want a valid survey opportunity to be blocked.

Many of the first emails will be acknowledgements of your registrations, welcoming you as a new member, but you will also begin receiving invitations to surveys. In the email will be a link to a website.

Click the link to load the web page where you will take the survey. The survey invitation should also state how the survey will be rewarded - cash, points, gift certificates, etc.

Tell Me More about These Surveys

There are hundreds of market research sites that each conduct surveys for a variety of companies. The surveys vary over time with the needs and requests of the companies represented. Many are related to new product development and effective marketing and advertising techniques for products. Some are very specific such as in technical areas like computing.

The surveys are designed to get your honest opinions on various topics, such as what kind of products you buy, why you choose one product over another, what you think of certain products and how much they cost, how much you spend on various products, etc

The surveys are conducted online and may consist of something as simple as questions with multiple choice answers. Others may be a study where you need to read about a particular situation and then respond to questions about that “case”.

The content or subjects of the surveys can vary widely based on the need of the companies.

Here are some examples:
• Customer Satisfaction
• Product Surveys
• Movie Trailers
• Service Evaluation
• New Product Marketing
• Website Evaluation
• Computer Hardware/Software
• Health Care
• Travel
• Academic Course Evaluation or Training.

It is important if you want to make money with online paid surveys that you maximise your possibilities of getting loads of surveys to fill out. To do this we recommend you signup for a paid survey database site like Survey Scout.

The Paid Survey Registration Process

The Paid Survey Registration Process

Click the link of the first site you’d like to register with. Your listing may provide both a main page link and a registration link. If you’d like to view general information about the site first, click the main page link.

To go directly to the registration page, click that link. Before you actually fill out the registration form, you may want to take a few minutes to read the site’s membership
agreement. That will indicate how they will be using the information you provide to them, and how they will be paying you…

PayPal, check etc. Only sign up with that site if you agree to their terms.

If you don’t immediately see a registration form, look for a link that says “Join”, “Sign Up”, or “Register”. Click that link and the registration form will appear.

If you have your auto-filling form software set up properly, it will detect every time a web page with forms appears. Click the “Fill” button and the registration form will be auto-filled with the information you entered when you set up the software previously.

The auto-fill process will usually not be able to fill in every single piece of information that the site requests but will cover a lot of it. You then fill in the remaining information manually. Usually what is left to fill out manually are just check boxes and not items that require a lot of typing

Registration with a survey company should take about 15 minutes on average. Varying amounts of information will be requested.

They will use the information to pre qualify you for surveys, so be as complete as possible.

At some point you should see a “Submit” or similar button to click, indicating the end of the registration. Many of the survey sites will send you an email confirming your registration. They may require that you click a link in the email you receive in order to complete the registration process.

That’s it! You have just registered with your first survey site. You’ll find that this is the most time-consuming phase of the paid online survey process, but it is crucial to your success so you need to persevere.

Determine how you want to continue with your registrations. You can budget a little time each day to register with a few sites at a time or you can have a few marathon sessions in which you register with all the sites you are eligible for as quickly as possible.

Whatever your approach, it is important to register with as many sites as possible. The more sites you are registered with, the more opportunities you will have to receive survey invitations.

How many sites you register with and how quickly you register with them is probably the single biggest contributor to your success that you can control.

Join a good database like SurveyScout.com and register for several hundred. Most of which will pay cash at some point.

Registering With the Paid Survey Market Research Sites

Congratulations!

You’ve completed all the preliminary steps to succeeding with online surveys.
• You have an email address dedicated to online surveys
• You have set up a PayPal account
• You’ve joined a paid survey database
• You’ve downloaded and are ready to use the form-filling software

Now it’s time to begin the registration process. Log into your paid survey database website and locate the page or pages that contain the market research site links. There should be hundreds of sites listed.

If you haven’t already signed up for a database signup below:
Paid Survey Database

A good database will indicate up front which geographic areas the site provides opportunities for and what types of opportunities are available, i.e. online surveys, focus groups, etc.

Tracking Registrations

Your database site may have recommendations regarding which survey sites to start with, if so follow their recommendations.

Approach the registrations in an organized manner. You should keep track of which survey sites you have registered with. You can create a chart to do that - either on paper, in a word processor, or through an Excel spreadsheet. It doesn’t have to be too complicated, whatever you are comfortable with.

Some people opt to just save the emails sent by the MRC to confirm their registration. It’s a good idea to save those emails in a separate folder anyway.

Any of these techniques will work, you just don’t want to come back to the list later and not be able to remember which sites you have already registered with and which you haven’t.

For more info check out the rest of our posts where we cover every possible aspect of succeeding with internet paid surveys.
